Sarykhun and Zökhari

The Altan Saryk distinguish between two forms of tribal belonging.

Sarykhun

Sarykhun (“Those of the Stone”) are individuals born into the tribe and fully bound to the Saryk Cairn.

Zökhari

Zökhari (“Those Who Walk Beside”) are those who join the tribe later in life.

Cultural Meaning

The distinction defines responsibility, not worth.
